Choosing Life: Faith and Living with Chronic Disease is a project that is near and dear to my heart, as it is my own personal story. I have lived with multiple chronic diseases for many years; some of which include: chronic migraines, GERD, bilateral Meniere’s Disease, fibromyalgia, chronic kidney disease, and degenerating disks in my cervical and lower spine. More recently, I have been diagnosed with a growing inoperable cyst in my spinal cord, and some metabolic disorders. Each can be manageable, but in my case, each has increasingly gotten out of control making it impossible to work; so I have been on medical disability since 2009.
This new book will be telling my story, but focusing on my experiences with God in the midst of it all; the ups and downs, the twists and turns, the pains and sorrows, and the deep despairs, as well as the invitations to go deeper and not just know intellectually that God is with me, but to know tangentially that God is not just beside me, but within me at the core of my being.
